The first PS3 incarnation of this blockbuster series. Metal Gear Solid goes back to the future after the last episode (MGS3: Subsistence) put the player in the role of Big Boss during the Vietnam era. This time it's the Solid Snake we all know and love, except he looks like he's now in his sixties, in a war-torn Mogadishu-style battleground where the theme is "Nowhere to hide."
Mark in 2014, 5 years after the "Manhattan Incident", Metal Gear Solid 4 represents a world where the restraint of military intervention on foreign soil has been eased, fueling the need for private military companies (PMCs) to fight proxy wars for business purposes. Nanotechnology has become prominent, both to enhance the capabilities and enforce the loyalty of mercenaries. The 5 biggest of these PMCs are owned by a single mother company named Outer Haven, which is operated by Liquid Ocelot. Amassing an army whose manpower rivals that of the United States, Liquid prepares to launch an armed insurrection. With the world once again in crisis, a rapidly aging and disillusioned Solid Snake is deployed into the Middle East by Roy Campbell to terminate Liquid. Guns of the Patriots will take place in five locations throughout the world. So far three locations have been revealed: the Middle East, South America and somewhere in Eastern Europe.
Little is known about this next gen version of Metal Gear Solid, but it is known that the game is set after Metal Gear Solid 2, and it features Solid Snake as the main character. Also returning from previous games are Vamp, Meryl, Raiden, Ocelot, Otakon and maybe even Big Boss and Naomi.
